Nagarasugi
The Nagara River, along with the Shimanto River and the Kakita River, is called "one of the three major clear streams in Japan."
It has been 12 years since the products of cedar produced in Gifu prefecture came to be called "Nagarasugi".
Sugi resources in the prefecture are abundant in the Nagara River basin, so this name was given.
(Features)
It is a representative tree species that is a specialty of Japan and grows from the northern part of Honshu to Yakushima in the south. Artificial planting extends to southern Hokkaido, and the amount is the highest. In particular, Akitasugi, Tenryusugi, Yoshinosugi, Hitasugi, Obisugi, Yakusugi, etc. are famous. The boundary between the sapwood and the heartwood is distinct, the sapwood is white, the heartwood is pale red to reddish brown, and sometimes blackish brown. The wood grain is clear and straight.
The material is a little light and soft, there is relatively little deviation, and processing such as cutting is easy. Slightly inferior in water resistance. Easy to crack vertically along the wood grain.
