As a symbol of immortality and longevity, it is prized as a precious and auspicious tree that is said to be "Yaku ga sugiru(passed unlucky year) ".
(Producing area)
Natural cedars that grows naturally in the mountains over 500m above sea level in Yakushima, Kagoshima Prefecture.
(Features)
Among the cedars on Yakushima, those over 1000 years old are called "Yakusugi". The wood grain is clear and the high quality bamboo leaves pattern appears, so it has an exceptional beauty, and it has the characteristic that it does not deviation even with complicated wood grain. The material is hard and contains about 6 times more resin than usual, so it has antiseptic, antibacterial and insect repellent effects, and a unique scent remains even after processing. Since logging is currently prohibited, only the timber before the ban and fallen trees (thinned timber) are distribution, and it is a very rare high-grade timber.
