・Yakusugi
Yakusugi is a type of cedar that grows naturally in mountainous areas over 500 meters above sea level on Yakushima Island. Currently, cutting down Yakusugi is prohibited, and only stumps, fallen trees, and other "buried wood" can be processed into a rare, high-quality material. As it is said that "Yakusugi = the evil(Yaku) has passed(Sugi)," it is treasured as a talisman for longevity, ward off evil spirits, prosperity, good fortune, and good luck.
