This piece uses the traditional batik technique to depict the ritual of passing through a straw circle, a familiar sight since ancient times as a Shinto ritual for good health and purification.
By applying wax with a brush, the outline stands out clearly and the dye accumulates to create a deep color.
By incorporating the symbolism of this ancient ritual of praying for good health into the design, we have created a Noren that purifies the space and adds a touch of peaceful prayer.

The Noren is originally used for the entrance of the house for the light removal.
It is also a feature of Noren that you can easily change the atmosphere of the room by hiding the back of the house from the entrance at the time of visiter, using the goods as a partition of the room and blindfold.
Since the olden days, people say that Norens Curtain are a mystical barrier against evil and can remove the bad vibes from outside that cause illness and other misfortune.
