(Origin)
Ebony, sandalwood, and senna siamea are called the three rare Tang tree.
A high-class material that once entered Japan via China (Tang).

(Producing area)
Originally Southeast Asia was the mainstream production area, but now Africa is the mainstream production area, and brown and black striped ebony are the mainstream. It is a valuable material that will be depleted in the near future due to the logging of black ebony.

(Features)
It is a very heavy and hard material, and it is extremely difficult to process.
It has excellent durability. It is a rare wood, and the more you use it, the more glossy it becomes.
The wood grain floating in the black is beautiful.

(Color tone)
The sapwood has a pale red, and the heartwood has stripes with alternating black and pale red. In rare cases, there are also pure black ones, which are called pure ebony or maguro, and those with striped wood grain are called striped ebony.
