Today on Manekineko Ai Kitchen, we’re sharing one of our all-time favorite home-style recipes: Braised pork spare ribs with daikon radish.

Recipe: Braised Pork Spare Ribs with Daikon
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
- Pork spare ribs … 400g
- Daikon radish … 1/2 (approx. 500g)
- Fresh ginger … 1 slice
- Vegetable oil … 1 tsp
Seasoning
- Water … 300ml
- Sake … 3 tbsp
- Mirin … 2 tbsp
- Soy sauce … 2 tbsp
- Sugar … 2 tsp
Instructions
- Peel the daikon, slice into thick rounds (about 2cm), and trim the edges. Parboil if desired for extra tenderness.
- Blanch the pork spare ribs in boiling water to remove excess fat and scum.
- Heat oil in a pot and lightly sear the ribs on all sides.
- Add daikon, ginger, and all seasonings. Cover with a drop lid and simmer over medium heat for 30–40 minutes.
- Cook until the broth is reduced and flavorful. Serve hot!
